The National President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Honourable Muhammad Magaji Gettado, has led other national executives of the association on a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) in Abuja to discuss critical issues affecting farmers and herders across Nigeria, according to a statement issued and shared by his Personal Assistant, Bashir Sulaiman Garkuwa.
The statement noted that during the visit, the AFAN delegation met with the Executive Secretary of NALDA, Engineer Adebayo, where discussions focused on practical ways to support male and female farmers and herders under the Smart Agriculture initiative. Key areas of engagement included timely access to farming inputs and modern agricultural equipment, particularly tractors, which are currently being managed and deployed by NALDA.

Speaking at the meeting, the Executive Secretary of NALDA, Engineer Adebayo, assured the AFAN leadership of the agency’s readiness to work closely with the association to identify farmers at all levels and ensure they benefit from government agricultural programmes. He explained that the collaboration would help boost agricultural productivity and livestock development during both the dry and rainy seasons.

Engineer Adebayo also commended Nigerian farmers for electing Honourable Muhammad Magaji Gettado as AFAN President, describing him as a seasoned leader with extensive experience in the agriculture sector. He recalled that Gettado had previously served as a member of the State House of Assembly, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, and as a Commissioner in charge of agriculture, adding that such experience would strengthen AFAN’s leadership and impact.

In his response, Honourable Gettado expressed gratitude to the NALDA management for the warm reception and the assurances given, stating that Nigerian farmers would significantly benefit from the agency’s programmes. He further praised Engineer Adebayo for his leadership and the visible progress recorded by NALDA since his appointment.

The AFAN President expressed optimism that the engagement would yield positive results and prayed for continued success in efforts aimed at improving agricultural development and food security in Nigeria.
