Birnin Kebbi, Jan. 4, 2025 – The Kebbi State Disability Commission has commended Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for appointing 15 persons with disabilities (PWDs) as Special Assistants, describing the move as historic and inclusive.
In a press statement issued by the Chairman of the Commission, Anas Malami-Gwandu, the gesture was hailed as a testament to the governor's commitment to inclusivity, equity, and empowerment.
"On behalf of the entire community of Persons with Disabilities in Kebbi State, I wish to express our deepest appreciation to His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the historic and inclusive decision to appoint 15 persons with disabilities as special assistants in his administration," the statement read.
Malami-Gwandu emphasized that the appointments signify the governor’s visionary leadership, noting that disability is not a limitation but a unique perspective that can contribute to societal development.
"By giving PWDs a seat at the table of governance, you have sent a powerful message that every individual, regardless of their physical or mental challenges, has a role to play in the development of our dear state," he added.
