Taraba Disability Commission Holds First Post-Inauguration Meeting to Map Out Work Plan

The Taraba State Disability Commission has held its first official meeting following the inauguration of its board, marking an important step toward advancing policies and programmes for persons with disabilities in the state.

The meeting brought together the Chairman of the Commission, Matudi Ali, zonal coordinators, board members, as well as representatives from various government ministries and civil society organisations. The gathering focused on outlining the commission’s immediate priorities and developing a strategic work plan to guide its activities.

During the session, participants discussed practical steps for strengthening institutional coordination and ensuring that policies aimed at promoting the welfare and rights of persons with disabilities are effectively implemented across the state.

The commission also emphasized the need for collaboration between government institutions, stakeholders, and civil society groups in order to build an inclusive system that supports persons with disabilities in areas such as education, healthcare, empowerment, and accessibility.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from members to work collectively toward delivering impactful programmes and ensuring that the commission fulfills its mandate of promoting inclusion, protection, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in Taraba State.
