The Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities (GSCPWD), led by its Executive Chairman Dr. Ishiyaku Adamu, has paid an advocacy visit to the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Comrade Muhammad Abba Isa, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
During the visit, the Chairman commended President Tinubu for creating the SSA office dedicated to Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, describing the move as a bold step towards advancing disability inclusion. He also lauded Comrade Abba Isa for his relentless efforts in championing disability rights and raising national visibility for the community.
Dr. Ishiyaku equally acknowledged the vision of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, whose commitment led to the establishment of the Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities by law, making Gombe a model for other states.
In his response, Comrade Abba Isa appreciated the Commission’s gesture, noting that GSCPWD was the first state disability commission to visit his office. He described the visit as proof of the foresight and leadership of the Chairman and the Board.
He further praised Governor Yahaya for providing both temporary and permanent sites for the newly established Federal College of Education (Special), Dukku, describing the move as a testament to inclusive governance. He also acknowledged Hon. El Rasheed for sponsoring the initiative, calling it a commendable act of commitment.
Comrade Abba pledged close collaboration with GSCPWD, assuring that the Commission would be fully involved in all phases of the college’s establishment.
With the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the meeting reaffirmed a joint commitment to building a more inclusive Nigeria where no one is left behind.
