SSAP Abba Isa Decorated As UN Global Peace Diplomat

In recognition of his excellent humanitarian service and contributions to promotion of global peace and security, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Comrade Mohammed Abba Isa, was on Wednesday decorated as the United Nations Global Peace Diplomat.

The award, which was conferred on the Presidential aide by the International Organization of UN Volunteers (United Nations Peace Organization) is also referred to as International Peace Medal Award on SDGs 16 and 17 in Nigeria.

According to the organizers, this was done in cognizance of Comrade Abba Isa’s managerial prowess, personality profile and diverse accomplishments in areas of societal empowerment and peace development which are in line with the United Nations standard on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and beyond.

The Senior aide to President Tinubu is by this award inducted into the SDGs Hall of Fame and henceforth to be recognized as a Global Peace Diplomat.

While presenting the award, the Country Director, Int’l Organization of UN Volunteers, Ambassador Luka Jacob, lauded Comrade Abba Isa’s unparalleled achievements and impact on the grassroots which was why President Tinubu found him worthy of the appointment as SSAP so that he can lead the whole community of PWDs to the right destination in line with the aspirations of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Amb. Luka added that the essence of the presentation  to commend the presidential aide for what he has achieved so far within a very short time in office and to encourage and boost his moral to do more.

According to Amb. Luka, the int’l organization of UN Volunteers is an organization of business stakeholders and highly official personalities who have upheld high ethical standards for United Nations, and  have really been consistent in providing solutions towards global peace development.

He disclosed that the organization is made up of nurses, doctors, engineers who have taken it upon themselves to promote global peace and security.

In his remarks, Comrade Abba Isa commended the organization on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and disability community while appreciating them for the good job they are doing.


The presidential aide stated that the award is “a clear testimony of what we are doing and also an encouragement for us to do more in service to humanity in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”, while dedicating the award to 35 million Nigerians with disabilities. 

The SSAP said: ” I am aware of the activities of UN Volunteers because one of your mandate is to create peace and awareness in line with the treaties of government, Sustainable Development Goals, United Nations Conventions on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities , Disability Right Acts and all other treaties of government and you are doing a great job. 


“There is a linkage or interception between the SDGs and United Nations Conventions on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities. You have given me award based on goals 16 and 17 of SDGs which is talking about rights of PWDs.

“This award is clear testimony of what we are doing and also an encouragement for us to do more in service to humanity on line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I dedicate this award to 35 million Nigerians with disabilities. I wish you all the best.”
