Adamawa state chapter of Deaf women Association of Nigeria in a press statement released on Sunday, 3rd December, 2023 during annual observance of International Day for persons with disabilities lament discrimination and exclusion of it's member from political participation, electoral process, employment, access to information and communication barriers at hospital, media houses, MDAs among others.

In a press statement sent to inclusive reporters, the group further lament discrimination of it's members in areas of employment and empowerment by authorities concerned.

The deputy chairperson of the group Mrs Najaatu Saleh Bello argues that the 2006 Convention on the Rights of PWDs which Nigeria is a signatory commit state parties to provide PWDs with same range quality and standard or affordable health care and programme as provided to other people.

The group commend the passage and signing of discrimination against PWDs Act and establishment of  NCPWDs however the group lament that the implementation especially at state level is very poor.

As we make the 2023 IDPWD in Adamawa state and indeed world over, we must attend to this call to act. The group present their demands as follows:
Immediately full implementation and domestication of Adamawa state disability rights commission act of 2016,
Provide access and equal education for disabilities children and women, provide special scholarship to deaf women in the state,
Reserves  5% slots for PWD women in political position and job placement,
Organize program on health for PWD women, adequate information and adopt sign language interpreters in all government functions in the state"
