The growing support for Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna across Gombe State reflects public confidence in his leadership, experience and ability to move the state forward. His emergence as the APC consensus governorship candidate has strengthened hopes for continuity, development and effective governance.
Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna is respected as a technocrat with experience in both public and private sectors. His track record shows competence in administration, infrastructure development and institutional leadership.
As General Manager of the Gombe State Water Corporation, Dr. Gwamna introduced reforms and created employment opportunities for many youths, earning public respect for his people-oriented leadership.
At Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr. Gwamna demonstrated strong leadership and administrative competence while creating opportunities for many qualified Gombe indigenes.
Dr. Gwamna is known for empowering people through mentorship and opportunities, with many beneficiaries today occupying important positions in different sectors.
Dr. Gwamna also possesses international exposure and valuable experience from the United Kingdom, where he gained knowledge in leadership, administration and institutional management.
His global exposure has equipped him with modern ideas on governance, transparency, technology and development partnerships needed to advance Gombe State.
Beyond administration, Dr. Gwamna has remained a loyal party man and grassroots mobilizer who has contributed greatly to the strength and unity of the APC in Gombe State.
He played important roles in the APC victories of 2019 and 2023, including serving as Director General of the APC Campaign Council during Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s successful re-election campaign.
Dr. Gwamna is widely admired for his humility, accessibility and commitment to supporting people regardless of their background. He is deeply loved by many people, including persons with disabilities, not only because of the support he has provided individually and collectively, but also because of the respect, compassion and sense of belonging he extends to them. Over the years, he has consistently welcomed people without prejudice or discrimination whenever they seek his attention. His doors are always open, and beyond having listening ears, he is known for taking practical steps to address the challenges and concerns brought before him. This rare combination of empathy, inclusiveness and action-oriented leadership continues to earn him admiration across different communities in Gombe State.
Talking from personal experience, I can vividly remember during the 2023 general elections when Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna served as the Director General of the APC Campaign Council. I led a group of Deaf youths and leaders to meet him and discuss ways we could mobilize Deaf persons and other persons with disabilities to support and vote for our great party during the elections, considering the fact that we Deaf leaders understand how to effectively communicate with our members through sign language. Dr. Gwamna not only warmly welcomed and listened to us, but also invited us to have dinner with him, supported us with transportation and assured us that persons with disabilities would be included in governance and opportunities.
Today, the rest is history. Under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON (Dan Majen Gombe), the APC government in Gombe State has consistently promoted inclusion by carrying persons with disabilities along in palliatives, policies, programmes, appointments and employment opportunities. So far, more than 20 persons with disabilities have secured employment while over 10 others have received political appointments under the visionary and inclusive leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON, the incoming Senator for Gombe North, In Sha Allah.
As a disability inclusion advocate who interacted with Gwamna, I believe Dr. Gwamna’s inclusive leadership style gives hope to vulnerable groups and persons with disabilities.
At this critical time, Gombe State needs a leader with experience, exposure and vision, and Dr. Gwamna possesses the qualities needed to drive sustainable development.
Without doubt, Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna has the capacity, experience and leadership qualities needed to lead Gombe State to greater heights.
