The Nasarawa State Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) has taken deliberate steps to ensure the full inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in its ongoing recruitment exercise for secondary school teachers across the state.
In a letter addressed to the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission (NSDRC) and signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Ishaq S. Bage, the TSC said the decision aligns with its commitment to equal opportunity, disability inclusion, and compliance with relevant state and national laws.
According to the letter dated October 17, 2025, while the main application process is conducted online, the Commission has made special provisions for applicants with disabilities who may be unable to access the digital portal. Such candidates, the letter stated, are permitted to submit their applications physically at the TSC headquarters in Lafia.
The TSC also disclosed that designated officers have been assigned to assist PWDs in completing their applications and ensuring equal consideration with other applicants. It further urged the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission to help disseminate the information through its networks and provide technical guidance to ensure a seamless process.
Reacting to the development, the Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission, Mr. Sale Barde Keana, lauded the TSC for demonstrating a strong commitment to disability inclusion in public service employment.
Keana, in a statement shared on his social media handle, described the move as a “commendable effort and a clear reflection of the 5% employment quota policy for Persons with Disabilities.”
He called on qualified PWDs across the state to take advantage of the opportunity, assuring them that staff have been deployed to support applicants throughout the registration process.
Also speaking, a board member of the Disability Rights Commission, Awadzi Brigade Christopher urged interested applicants who are unable to access the online portal to submit their applications physically either at the TSC headquarters or at the NSDRC office located along Kurunyo Road, Lafia.
“This initiative is a clear demonstration of inclusion, accessibility, and fairness,” she said, noting that the process has been designed to ensure no qualified person with a disability is left out.
Mr. Keana reaffirmed the Commission’s continued commitment to advocating for inclusive employment practices and ensuring that PWDs have equal access to opportunities in Nasarawa State’s public service.
