The Disability Community and other vulnerable groups in Nigeria, led by Ambassador Festus Zenda, have called for the appointment of Dr. Halimat Adenike Tejuosho as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
In their statement, they urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fill the leadership gap left by the removal of the previous minister, Betta Edu, which has negatively impacted vulnerable groups, especially the 35 million Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
The group emphasized that Dr. Tejuosho's longstanding dedication to the welfare of the poor and vulnerable makes her the ideal candidate for this role. Her compassionate nature, generosity, and consistent efforts in humanitarian work have earned her the trust and admiration of these communities. The group believes that her appointment would bring much-needed relief and support to Nigeria’s disadvantaged citizens and restore their hope for a better future. They concluded by urging the president to urgently consider her for the position.
