A PAPER PRESENTATION PRESENTED BY COMRADE SAFIYANU IBRAHIM BAPPAH, THE SECREARY GENERAL, OF GOMBE STATE ASSOCIATION OF THE DEAF, DURING A MEETING WITH HIS EXCELLENCY, ALHAJI MUHAMMAD INUWA YAHAYA, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF GOMBE ON A COURTESY CALL VISIT ON 3RD FEBRUARY, 2022.
It gives me a great pleasure to stand before you with my entourage as the Secretary of our great association and as the son of the soil to address you on this auspicious occasion of our meeting with you. I am elated and I want to thank you most sincerely for inviting us to have meeting with you despite your very busy and crowded schedule.
You have proved yourself as a technocrat with a very good grasp of the importance of using eggheads to drive people oriented vision and economic development plans and programmes especially to persons living with disabilities in the State.
It is on this note and worth mentioning that, the various policies of your future administration are therefore predicted to be yielded positive outcomes with attend boost in the quality of life of the average citizen of Gombe State particularly PWDs.
Your Excellency, we are here for a number of reasons, but let me bring to your attention most especially the pressing areas of our needs which are:
1. EDUCATION SCHOOLSHIP: Our members need scholarship to enable them continue their education because most of them are from the poor background.
2. SIGN DISABILITY BILL AND ESTABLISH AGENCY FOR PWDS: We believe the Government still have it in mind and may be you forget due to your tight schedulues. So we beg your Excellency to kindly approve our bills with a view to enable us meet the dividend of democracy.
3. FUND: lt's a difficult to run any organization without funds. We will appreciate if we will have a monthly grant to enable us run our association activities effectively.
4. Provision Office: We need the office to enable us run our association affairs effectively.
Finally, let me use this opportunity to express my profound appreciation and gratitude to your Excellency for providing employment to 25 disability graduates in Gombe through TSC recruitment exercise recently.
Undoubtedly, we have come to realize that among all those clamoring for the governorship tickets in the Gombe State you are the most suitable person, following your laudable community projects and achievements recorded in the state, this was further manifested in your relationship with the people especially the disabled and we, therefore, find solace in you. We have taken it upon ourselves to mobilize our Deaf people in all nook and crannies of the State to vote you to continue with the second term.
We are very confident that the issues raised at this meeting would be considered and given favourable attention. It is our prayer that God will renew your strength, vigour, and wisdom to continue administering the state.
