The Chidi Topaz Olujie Foundation owned by the National President of Nigeria National Association of the Deaf Hon. Chidi Topaz Olujie in the spirit of Yuletide supported 30 vulnerable deaf members to celebrate Merry Xmas.
Inclusive Reporters.ng learnt that the selection was made based nomation in the Deaf national Whatsapp group where members were asked to nominate someone who's needy and seriously need the funds. This includes the reason why the person need the funds in one way or the other to celebrate Xmas. The selection was made randomly by officials of the foundation based on the reasons provided in the nomination.
It was further learnt that for transspaency and accountability sake, all nominations are to be dropped in the Whatsapp group and no one should drop request privately to the National President Wall or any of the CTO official otherwise risk disqualification.
One of the nominee that captured our attention is Abubakar Mohammed, the chairman of Yobe state Association of the Deaf who nominated one of their member who is about 8years old, a multiple handicapped that has been sick for almost 2years. The boy can't sit either feed himself. all the time he is laying.
After the disbursement to the beneficiaries while expressing appreciation Abubakar who handed over the cash to the boy's mother said "on behalf of the number 6, thanks to CTO foundation, the boy parents are so much grateful for the kind gesture at this trying time.. God bless the National President Dr Chidi Olujie.
When contacted, Abubakar confirmed to us that the boy also have two other Deaf kid sisters.
He added that "The boy's father is not working due to old age and the boy couldn't eat all type of foods except few.. on receiving the money tear almost drop out from the mom eyes. She thanked God saying now she can use it to buy his favourite foods"
The struggling mother said they have been going to hospital time without number for his treatment and even use traditional medicines but to no avail to the extent they have to stop due to running out of cash"
